The opening ceremony of Ubiquity, Chen Zhiguang''s solo show, will be held on August 8th, 2009 at Beyond Art Space in the 798 Art District. The solo show is intended to demonstrate the academic development of Chen Zhiguang''s artworks since 2007, thus the selection and arrangement of the works displayed are of obvious academic purpose. Ubiquity is a unique status that represents Chen Zhiguang''s understanding of present social reality.
Chen Zhiguang is living in China, a country with the most rapid developments and changes, which makes his life experience quite legendary. His unusual experience and understanding of social development are vividly embedded in his artworks. The ant is his favorite symbol, to which he endows new connotations and brings new vitality. In his series of artworks, the ant has literally become a new species that symbolizes the pressure brought about by the intertwinement of history and present days, faced by all living things including mankind. Chen Zhiguang has a habit of juxtaposing large number of ants and different surrounding environments, making the ants ubiquitous and visually overwhelming. In the solo show, the audience will witness how his ants are intermingled with the already fascinating Beyond Art Space and are brought to an unbelievable magical world.
